Hela Provincial Government will print first cheque today at 11am in Tari
The Hela people will today witness the printing of the first cheque in Tari, at the Hela provincial treasury. The announcement was made by provincial administrator Ronny Angu at a breakfast meeting.
This follows the successful rollout of the Integrated Financial Management System [IFMS] by the Treasury Department and the PNG Dataco teams.
Mr Angu said this is a major reform in its financial operations, affirming that no more government cheques will be printed or processed in Port Moresby or anywhere outside Hela Province.
“The system will allow all day-to-day government financial transactions and treasury operations to be processed directly from the Hela Treasury Office.
“The initiative is expected to strengthen accountability, improve transparency, and enhance efficient service delivery throughout the province,” he said.
