A delegation from Papua New Guinea’s Flexible Open and Distance Education [FODE] program visited several FODE centers in Hela Province last week.

The team, led by FODE Principal Anthony Rayapan, toured centers at Wa-Amu, Ibau, Kikita, Angu Memorial, Hope, and the Hela Provincial FODE centers. Additional centers are scheduled to be visited during their next official trip.

During the visit, the officials met with Hela Governor Philip Undialu, who pledged state land and a building in Tari Town to house the Hela Provincial FODE center.

Governor Undialu also committed to supporting Hela FODE science students by facilitating their enrollment in STEM programs at Lovely Professional University abroad.

Koroba DDA allocated state land for the establishment of new FODE and TVET centers. A Memorandum of Agreement between the Koroba Lake Kopiago DDA and the PNG FODE office is expected to be signed soon to formalize this initiative.
