Police shoot, arrest armed robbery suspect in Sabusa
A male adult alleged to have been involved in an armed robbery on Monday was apprehended by National Capital District Task Force police officers after they received information about an armed robbery in progress along the Hiritano Highway in Central Province.
National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab confirmed that a report of armed robbery was made at 11 p.m. on Monday at a Chinese company yard in Sabusa. There were more than ten armed men.
He said that, in the process of robbing the company employees, the men got into a confrontation with the security guards, where one security guard was shot and wounded, and a security vehicle was also shot at, damaging it.
According to the police report, after robbing the employees, the armed men went on foot towards Sabusa village.
Police units on night patrol were notified and responded by blocking off the escape route at Sabusa Village.
"An armed man was shot and wounded by the police. He had in his possession four live rounds of ammunition and a homemade pistol. He was about to attack the police officers when he was shot and wounded, and his weapon and ammunition were taken. The man is now being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Division officers," Metsupt Simatab said.
Simatab said the others who escaped are still on the run, adding that, based on information received, the same group is alleged to have committed other serious offences.
Metsupt Simatab said that technology and good relationship with the public were the reasons for the man's arrest.
