More students benefit from Basil sponsorship scheme
Two-hundred and thirteen students from Bulolo District at Bulolo Technical Colleges fees were fully funded by the Bulolo Development Authority through the Bulolo Corporate Basil Scholarship Scheme worth K392,900.
Bulolo MP and District Development Authority Chairman, Sam Basil Jr presented a cheque to the school last Wednesday.
Basil continues to advocate on the importance of supporting technical skills in the district.
"Bulolo is equipping its people in trade skills to be able to work in the demanding trade and vocational field in the work force, such as the Wafi-Golpu project that is yet to eventuate in Bulolo district." He said.
Basil explained, "we want our people to be skilled and ready to work in the upcoming world class mine, (Wafi-Golpu mine)."
Basil Jr said for this year, they have paid school fees for 27 students attending AOG CHW Training School in Lae worth K105, 600, 33 attending Balob Teachers College worth K250,000 now K392,900 for 213 student attending Bulolo Technical College.
Given the vast alluvial mining activities in Bulolo district, more people need to be skilled and have the knowledge to operate in world class mine.
