Governor commends partners for contributions in disaster relief
Governor for West Sepik Tony Wouwou has thanked the development partners who have respectively mobilized over K30, 000 worth of essential supplies to assist communities devastated by recent landslide in the East Wapei LLG.
This contribution follows a direct call for support from the Governor’s office to bolster provincial relief efforts.
The relief package, comprising a diverse range of life-sustaining items, was made possible through the swift generosity of four partners: Vanimo Forest Products Ltd, the Indonesian Consul Office, China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG) and Frieda River
The donated supplies address the immediate survival and hygiene needs of displaced families.
The coordinated aid package includes, bulk quantities of rice, noodles canned fish, sleeping nets, mats, blankets, protective sails, setsof durable cooking utensils, including pots and dishes,cartons of store-bought drinking water and 5,000L water tanks to ensure longterm access to safe hydration.
“I am very thankful for the help received in supporting community aid programs.
"Your continued support plays a key role in promoting growth, collaboration, and community resilience during these challenging times." Wouwou said.
He also thanked other business partners who have helped the West Sepik Administration, and any individual whose effort and time was contributed in aiding the affected.
Governor Wouwou emphasized that this is only the first step in a broader recovery strategy.
He said he will ensure respective authorities fulfill their mandates to restore living standards and ensure that vital services continue to reach East Wapei and other affected regions of the province.
Meanwhile Governor WouWou also sends out his Easter Message to the people of West Sepik urging them to understand the true meaning of Easter to remember and reflect the sacrifice of Jesus Christ through death and resurrection as the cornerstone of our faith.
"I urge you all my good law abiding citizens of West Sepik Province honor this Easter Period and not take is a time to be out drinking, fighting, or destroying peace in our communities.
Instead, let this season become the foundation of a new biginning for us as individuals, family, community, district, province and ultimately country as a whole."as the chief servant of the province, he urge all to embrace forgiveness and be united in the true Spirit of Easter.
Let us follow the examples of Christ by forgivingone another, setting aside our differences and live and work together in harmony with each other for the good of our province.
