SHP people ready to welcome PM at Poroma Junction
Crowds of people have gathered at Poroma Junction, in the Nipa Kutubu District of Southern Highlands Province to welcome Prime Minister James Marape and his accompanying delegation, who are making their way from Kutubu.
The Prime Minister spent the previous night with people of the Kutubu Local Level Government (LLG) area following the official inauguration ceremony of the Poroma Kutubu Access Road. This road launch took place yesterday at Pimaga Government Station.
Charles Andaiyo, a prominent community leader who had previously organized a peaceful protest prior to yesterday's road launching event, has publicly expressed his heartfelt gratitude to PM Marape.
"This will be an unforgettable and momentous occasion that the people of Poroma LLG and the wider Nipa Kutubu people will cherish for generations to come.
The Prime Minister's decision to visit our community holds tremendous significance for our people. The 23 ward councilors and the entire population they represent, are filled with joy and excitement to welcome him to the LLG," he said.
According to local organizers, Mr Marape is expected to arrive at Poroma Junction within the next few minutes, where he will be greeted by the assembled crowds and local dignitaries.
The atmosphere is one of anticipation and celebration as the community prepares to receive its nation's leader in what is being described as a landmark visit for the Poroma LLG.
