Waromo Village in West Sepik Province came alive with song, dance, and drama as the community marked Christmas through annual caroling celebrations.

Children, youths and adults took part in choir performances, cultural dances and drama presentations, all celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The event is organized by the St. Luke Waromo Catholic Community and is a long-standing tradition in the village.

Speaking to NBC News, St Luke Waromo Catholic Community Vice Chairman, Brian Essy, said the Christmas carols are not only about celebration, but about drawing people closer to God and promoting positive living.

Essy explained that the main aim of the caroling program is to save souls through praise and worship, while sharing the message of Christ’s birth.

He added that the program also helps keep young people away from alcohol, drugs and other harmful activities, while strengthening unity, peace and togetherness in the community.

The caroling began on December 25 and concluded in the early hours of yesterdaymorning, with strong participation from villagers and visitors.

Locals described the celebrations as “Wamo Ways,” reflecting the joy and unity Waromo Village is known for during Christmas.
