38 babies born on Christmas Day at PMGH
Port Moresby General Hospital welcomed 38 new-born babies on Christmas Day.
POM Gen Chief Executive Dr Paki Molumi said the hospital records showed that 37 mothers gave birth on December 25, 2025, including one mother who safely delivered a set of twins.
Dr. Molumi added that of the babies born, 21 are boys and 17 are girls, all of whom were delivered safely under the care of PMGH medical teams.
The hospital boss, commended its staff, including nurses, doctors, midwives and support workers, for their professionalism and dedication in ensuring the safe delivery of all babies during the Christmas period.
Dr Molumi acknowledged the commitment of hardworking healthcare workers who continued to serve on a public holiday, highlighting their crucial role in supporting mothers and newborns during one of the busiest times of the year.
