Kairuku district launches festive police operations
Police in Kairuku District in the Central Province, have begun their Christmas and New Year festive season operations.
Bereina Police Station Commander Willie Hoiba says 54 police officers have been deployed, since yesterday, across the district to maintain law and order during the holiday period.
Officers from Bereina and Doa police stations have been assigned to various Local Level Government areas, covering locations from Akufa in North Mekeo, Bakoiudu near the Goilala border in Kuni LLG, Yule Island, and parts of Waima, Kivori, and the wider Kairuku LLG.
Commander Hoiba says the festive police operation will continue until January 5th, 2026.
He urges community leaders and ward councilors to work closely with police to ensure peaceful and safe celebrations throughout the district.
