Tari Township streets fully sealed after final roadworks
The remaining unsealed street roads in Tari are finally being completed under the town’s ongoing urban renewal program.
Governor Philip Undialu confirmed that the last sections of unpaved roads are now being sealed, bringing the township closer to having fully modern, sealed streets. Most of Tari’s roads had already been completed earlier, with only a few patches left unfinished.
Undialu said provincial government intentionally delayed sealing the final sections until water supply pipelines were fully installed. This decision was made to avoid digging up newly sealed roads for future utility works.
“Now that the pipelines are in place, we can complete the roadwork properly and avoid unnecessary damage later,” he said.
Following the completion of the roads, the provincial government will move into the next phase of development, which includes installing solar-powered street lights throughout the town. According to the governor, the lights will improve public safety and allow businesses to operate for longer hours.
He also called on residents to take ownership of the new infrastructure and help protect it.
“All I want is for the people to look after them,” Undialu said. He said the lifespan of the roads and street lights depends on community care.
He said improving the town’s appearance and functionality will help attract investors, boost tourism, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents in Tari.
