Parker praises Lae police, presents K25,000 voucher
Lae based businessman, Justin Parker presented K25,000 worth of vouchers to the Lae Police under the Metropolitan Command, the Wau-Waria, Bulolo and Mumeng divisions under the PPC's command and the Northern Command, each receiving K5,000 worth of vouchers.
Parker said Lae Police were amongst some of the best police force in Papua New Guinea, praising their dedication and commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
“As a citizen of Lae and Morobe Province, I would say we have the best police force in the whole country,” Parker said.
He said the donation was made as a token of appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices, made by police officers throughout the year and in previous years to ensure the safety of the city and the province.
“The money I gave is basically for the purpose of a Christmas party, and as a way of saying thank you to the Lae and Morobe Police for the work they have done to keep Lae and the province safe another year,” Parker said.
The local businessman also commended the police for their toughness and resilience in maintaining law and order throughout.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police [ACP] for Northern Command, Peter Guinness welcomed the donation and thanked Parker for recognizing the efforts of the Lae Police and Morobe as a whole.
“This is the first time a private citizen has taken the initiative to support the police in this way, apart from assistance from the Morobe MPs,” ACP Guinness said.
ACP Guinness is also making a call to other residents of Lae and Morobe Province as a whole, to celebrate Christmas peacefully and work together with the police to apprehend those who disturb the spirit of Christmas, for a safer city.
