Marape honours Mirisim with highway naming in Telefomin
Prime Minister James Marape has paid tribute to the late Telefomin MP and Minister for Works and Highways, Solan Mirisim, describing him as one of Papua New Guinea’s most productive leaders since Independence.
The Prime Minister arrived in Telefomin by road from Tabubil to personally pay his final respects, underscoring the national significance of the late leader’s service.
He was accompanied by Western Province Governor Taboi Awi Yoto, Middle Fly MP Maso Hewabi, and Menyamya MP Solan Loifa.
Marape said Mirisim’s dedication to infrastructure development and public service had left a lasting impact on Telefomin and the country, adding that his work would continue to benefit future generations.
As a mark of honour, the Prime Minister announced the official naming of the Tabubil–Telefomin road as the Mirisim Highway, cementing the late minister’s legacy in the region he served.
