Police launch Christmas–New Year operations in NCD and Central
Police in the National Capital District [NCD] and Central Province have officially launched their Christmas and New Year operations at Unnagi Oval.
The launch brought together police officers from both commands, along with key partner agencies involved in public safety and emergency response during the festive season.
Representatives from St John Ambulance attended the event, reaffirming their commitment to support police with emergency medical services during major public gatherings and other high-risk periods. Private security firms operating within NCD were also present, highlighting the importance of coordinated security efforts.
Police said the operation will focus on maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Officers will be deployed to major shopping centres, residential areas, entertainment venues, and along key road networks.
Police commanders have urged the public to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement officers. They warned against alcohol abuse, domestic violence, traffic offences, and other unlawful activities.
The joint operation will run throughout the festive period and into the New Year, with police and partner agencies working together to ensure a safe and peaceful holiday season for everyone in the NCD and Central Province.
