Lae Secondary School is privileged with a new Robotic Laboratory opened yesterday.

The building is a support of the National Department of Education to the school, at a cost of almost K1 million.

The National Department of Education Secretary, Dr. Uke Kombra officiating at the ceremony challenged other schools to be innovative and creative.

Dr. Kombra said," teachers must do more research and go beyond to bring learning to the next level, while students must also try to be innovative and creative and not just depend on subjects only taught in the daily routines."

Secretary Kombra commended the Lae Secondary School and its Administration for the initiative of the robotic club in their school, which have been taking part in the world known Robotics competition for students.

The happy principal for the Lae Secondary school, Mr Christopher Raymond, thanked the National Education Department and the secretary for the contribution towards his school.

Mr Ryamond said, "Lae Secondary school is privileged to have this support towards the young innovators.

"The club hasn't had a steady location to do their projects, and this is a boost for the students."

The event was a small but very significant milestone for Lae Secondary, with only a few student representatives witnessing the unveiling of the sign board to signify the commissioning of the building by Secretary Dr Kombra.

Provincial Program Advisor Keith Tangui, Morobe Education Inspector Kwinda Trenian, and member of the Robotic club, and their mentors were present to celebrate the commissioning.

Meanwhile, the secretary also attended the other two events, the graduation for Papua New Guinea Education Institute and the closing of the Morobe Inter School Exhibition.
