More than 10,000 students converged at the Lae Showground this week for the Morobe Provincial High and Secondary School Exhibition, an annual event that continues to grow in scale and impact.

Now in its fourth year, the exhibition is a flagship initiative of the Morobe Provincial Administration, which has committed K200,000 in support for the 2025 edition. The two-day event provides a platform for students from across the province to showcase academic achievements, creative arts, and cultural talents.

A total of 15 schools confirmed participation this year, transforming the showground into a vibrant hub of learning and collaboration.

The exhibition was officially opened by Morobe Provincial Administrator for Social Services, Robin Bazinuc, who challenged students to rise to the demands of the modern world through creativity and innovation.

“In today’s competitive environment, students must be innovative and think critically,” Bazinuc said.
“I have already engaged a team to draft a formal policy to ensure this program is preserved and supported into the future. It’s a commendable initiative led by Mr. George Noble and his team.”

George Noble, Principal of Busu Secondary School and the Exhibition Coordinator, thanked the Morobe Government for its backing, but emphasized that additional sponsorship would enable the event to reach greater heights.

“This is not a competition like a sports carnival,” Noble explained. “It’s a space for students to display talents developed from classroom learning, to collaborate and grow together.”

The first day of the exhibition featured a marching parade, academic showcases in science, agriculture, and social science, as well as debates, public speaking, tableau, mimicry, visual arts, and fancy dress displays.

The second day will continue with musical performances, drama, a traditional attire parade, and final rounds of debate and public speaking.

Security has been a top priority, with support from Igam Barracks soldiers, police officers, school security personnel, and Lae Showground staff to ensure the event runs smoothly.

The Morobe School Exhibition continues to inspire students and strengthen collaboration among schools across the province, setting a strong foundation for holistic education in Papua New Guinea.
