Founder of the People's Labour Party [PLP], Chief Peter Charles Yama is hot on the campaign trail for the Usino/ Bundi seat as the days count down to polling for the by-election in the electorate.

During a campaign rally at 4 Kona, Usino sub-government station recently, Yama said PLP is the only Madang-based political party that has been in PNG politics for over two decades.

"PLP was born in Madang more than twenty years ago and is here to stay. Although I am not the party leader currently, I am urging voters in the district to support PLP. This party belongs to you, the people of Usino/ Bundi/ Gama. It has its roots right here in the district. You never know; one day, one of young people will be the party leader for PLP. You must be proud that you have your very own political party to represent you on the floor of Parliament," Yama said.

He further stated that unlike other candidates who are being supported by other political parties, he is contesting under his own party.

Mr Yama has so far organised two to three political rallies in the past weeks and extended invitations to other candidates of the Usino/ Bundi by-election to also use the rallies to campaign, however; they did not embrace the opportunities, except for about two who spoke very briefly.

He explained, "The reason I have organised the rallies is to bring together all candidates vying for the Usino/ Bundi seat in this by-election to come together and address the voters, to explain to the voters their policies and their reasons for contesting. If you want to be a leader, you must know how to talk to the people and convince them to vote for you."

Yama said he respected the other candidates' decisions not to attend his political rallies despite his invitation.

The Madang kwila is continuing his campaign throughout the district.
