PNGEC must better systems: Philemon

Former Milne Bay Governor Titus Philemon has raised concerns about the lackluster effort to deliver the current LLG Elections, given that proper funding was a constraint.
Today being the last day for Assistant Returning Officers accepting nominations in Milne Bay, former Governor Titus Philemon has raised there must be a better way around it.
He says the elections is not new and yet the country finds itself starting from scratch each time.
For the Milne Bay situation, he says it was especially hard for island and mountain communities, given that they have to go into Alotau for banking and could run the risk of missing nominations when they return to their respective LLGs.
He thanked Returning Officer Dadu Daga for considering these issues and allowing candidates to nominate in town.
Philemon cleared, as is common knowledge, it would cost more for transport into town to do banking than the current nomination fees set at K200, something the PNG Electoral Commission must seriously look into for the diverse situations presented by each province.
He says 50 years on, and this Constitutional process was being questioned, underfunded, and ill-prepared every election year.
