Nominations continuing for Madang Urban LLG

Nomination is generally slow in Madang Urban for the 2025 Local Level Government election.

Assistant Returning Officer for Madang Urban LLG, Mesi Timaus says, "candidates have been slow in coming in to nominate since the issue of writs last Thursday afternoon. The first candidate registered last Friday".

Madang Urban LLG has ten council wards, and the mayor's seat that candidates are vying for.

As of 2pm today, a woman candidate has nominated for Ward 2, and thirteen candidates have nominated for the mayor's seat.

Each of the ten council wards have registered at least three to five candidates, however; more are expected to come in before nomination ends.

Ward 10, meanwhile; is yet to register a candidate.

Nomination will close at 4pm on Thursday this week with the Order of Draw to follow on Friday.

ARO Timaus told those who have nominated that, "they are now officially candidates and can start campaigning.
