Nominations open for Enga’s LLG and Porgera Paiela by-election

Nominations for the LLG Elections and the Porgera Paiela by-election officially opened in Enga province on Friday.

The LLG Elections and the by-election will be running concurrently.

Nomination fee for candidates contesting the LLG elections is K200 while candidates nominating for the by-election will be required to pay K1000.

Candidate nominations from displaced areas, particularly those affected by tribal conflicts, will be accepted, including wards in the Wapenamanda electorate. Enga Provincial Election Manager Anton IAMAU clarified this during the LLG election training for the Assistant Returning Officers [ARO].

He said the provincial Electoral Office will be working with the districts of displaced wards so the people can vote for their candidates of choice during polling.

The provincial administration has agreed institutions and public servants will be given a day off work to cast their vote at the one-day polling.

The Limited Preferential Voting System will be used during the LLG and by-elections.
