Salika impressed with growing number as more female lawyers join bar

More female lawyers have dominated the latest Legal Training Institute admissions to the bar today.
Sir Gibbs Salika noted that more than half of the 91 lawyers admitted this morning were females.
He said this is a new growing trend where more female lawyers were entering the legal profession since 2022.
Sir Gibbs said most of the newly admitted lawyers were female graduates from the Legal Training Institute (LTI), marking the third consecutive year that women have outnumbered their male counterparts in admissions to the bar.
Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika commended LTI for achieving this significant shift in the traditionally male-dominated field.
He says this is very encouraging to see more positive change in gender balance in the Legal profession.
He says with the profession evolving, it’s good to see more women taking on roles in law and justice.
The head of the judiciary further praised the efforts of the legal training institute in shaping competent legal professionals and acknowledged the growing contribution of women in the justice system.
Meanwhile, the trend reflects ongoing progress in gender inclusivity within the legal profession in Papua New Guinea.
