Rapa appeals for peaceful and safe LLG election

Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa has appealed to the people of Western Highlands Province, to conduct a peaceful and safe LLG election.

Governor Rapa when speaking in a press conference in Mt Hagen said, the LLG election is an election process for the third-tier government, that is why people must take ownership of it, and conduct it in a more peaceful, safe and orderly manner.

Mr. Rapa added that when people behave in an orderly manner, there will not be a need for security personnel or police intervention, because the people will take it up on themselves, to deliver a safe, free
and fair election for their community government.

He also appealed to those intending to contest the 2025 LLG election, not to argue amongst themselves,
because this can have a negative or positive rippling effect to the people in their communities.

Governor Rapa said that when they do that, their people will accept the outcome of the election, because the candidates are still leaders in their own rights, despite the outcomes.

He further thanked those who are putting their hands up to represent their people at the Ward and LLG level.
