Sika describes rape and killing of pregnant woman as animalistic behavior

The National Capital District has once again witnessed the third brutal killing of a young pregnant mother of five.
According to NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Silva Sika, the 35-year-old mother was raped
and brutally murdered at Hohola 5 in Port Moresby on Wednesday night.
The attack on her also caused the death of her unborn child. She was identified as Joycelyn Myles from Tari Pori District of Hela Province.
Sika said Joycelyn was mourning the death of her 5th child, with other family members at her
house at Korobosea on Wednesday night, when two known relatives went to the hauskrai in a cab and
asked her to go with them around 7pm.
Superintendent Sika said that the two men told the deceased that her family were gathering at a certain location to put contributions for her child’s death, and they needed her there. Not knowing what was going to happen afterwards, she got on the cab and left with the two men and that was the last time her family and everyone at the hauskrai saw her.
Her family started looking for her later in the night and found out the next morning about a female
being raped and killed with her body being dumped at Hohola 5.
The NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Silva Sika described her death as an act of animalistic behavior
with no regard for human life as she was pregnant with her sixth child, when she was raped and
killed. He also added that sharp objects were used to brutally destroy her body, including the private
parts.
“This is a cruel and animalistic behavior from people with no care or whatsoever for human life," he said.
Mr. Sika while condemning the brutal killing of this younger mother, was also very concerned about
people moving around the city at odd hours, without any care of their own safety.
He said this situation with the young mother was unfortunate, as the suspects are known, which proves that no one can be trusted.
Superintendent Sika is now calling on all city residents to be mindful of their surroundings and the
company they keep, as it is difficult to trust anyone with the current trend of deaths and accidents. The NCD Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are already on the case, and they have also spoken
to the relatives of the late Joycelyn Myles.
The main suspects at this time are the two men that have picked up late Joycelyn in a cab on her last
night, and they are both known to the relatives of the deceased.
