Its game on for tier-3 government in Simbu

The mood in Kundiawa town was tense as candidates for the LLG Election flooded in to witness the
issuing of writs yesterday.

Simbu Election Manager Reverend Tom Sine, officially declared the Writs open at 4pm yesterday, in
front of the Simbu Electoral Office.

Rev Sine said, the much-anticipated LLG Election is now on, and he expects people to follow the due
process of electing their ward members.

"It’s a third-tier government guided by laws and regulations, and all candidates and their supporters
must strictly abide by it.”

He said that though many people doubted whether the election would be conducted, the national
government made a decision for the election to be held at this time, therefore, everyone must work
together to ensure a successful election.

He also mentioned that new ward areas gazette by the Electoral Commission in Simbu is subjected to
approval and a pending final deliberation from the Simbu Provincial Executive Council.

Inspector Nathan Polega, the Kundiawa Police Station Commander, told candidates and supporters to
conduct peaceful and orderly campaigns for the next eleven weeks.

He said that police will not hesitate to arrest any offenders during the campaign period.

Inspector Polega also urged the supporters and their candidates to uphold law, respect democracy and
avoid trouble.
