With the official issue of writs this Thursday, most of Milne Bay’s Assistant Returning Officers remain in Alotau Town awaiting fuel to get to their respective nomination sites. Officials hope most of them will be moved by Friday.
All 18 Assistant Returning Officers were in Alotau for a refresher workshop on the LLG Elections and this afternoon, we found them still waiting to get back to their various LLG headquarters where they will receive nominations.
Electoral officials say they are awaiting fuel to be supplied to move with their electoral materials.
Meantime, a lone candidate nominated today, kick starting proceedings for the LLG Elections for Milne Bay.

Candidate Glen Tobewa was the first to nominate, he is putting his hand up for Alotau Urban, the Town Mayor post.
More candidates are expected to flood in come 8am Friday.
