The Pilot of the Cessna small aircraft which crashed in Madang Province, yesterday, sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The PNG Accidents and Investigation Commission late last night released a statement saying the deceased had already sustained severe burns and later died at the hospital.

A team of investigators from the PNG Civil Aviation Safety Authority have been deployed to the accident site at Sangkiang village to conduct investigations into the fatal crash.

According to reports received by AIC from Ramu Agri Ltd [the hirer], the aircraft departed from Gusap Airstrip and was conducting a normal routine of low elevation agricultural operations over the Ramu Agri sugarcane plantations near the village, when the incident happened.

The Ramu Agri management was subsequently informed at 8:30 am yesterday [Wednesday] by their field operations team that the aircraft had crashed and the pilot, sole occupant of the aircraft, was fatally injured.

Meanwhile, investigations by PNG AIC will reveal the cause of the plan crash.
