The people of the Anglimp-South Waghi Electorate in Jiwaka are set to benefit from a decentralized governance system with the establishment of two new Local Level Governments: Kambai and Kuna Komon.

The proclamation of the new LLGs was launched on Tuesday by the Governor for Jiwaka, Simon Kaiwi, CS Minister, and local MP Joe Kuli and Provincial Administrator Rick Kogen at Minj.

Before delivering his keynote address, Governor Kaiwi gave special acknowledgment to the inaugural Jiwaka Province working committees, who worked tirelessly to establish the province following its separation from Western Highlands and its official proclamation in 2013.

Mr Kaiwi also thanked the office of the Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs [DPLGA] and Minister Soroi Eoe for giving the mandate to split the LLG.

Kaiwi said, the province is at its infant stage with least developments and government services whilst the creation of the new LLGs is another milestone achievement.

He added that his administration plus three local electorates are working and gradually putting in place some key developments and programs for the province.

“The work on ward areas and creating a new local level government is vital for the government as a whole because service delivery, law and order, and government stability start at the ward level,” Kaiwi said.

Governor Kaiwi also dismissed negative social media claims that portray the province's development efforts.

He urged the public to support the government and contribute meaningfully to progress, from the Local Level Government [LLG] level up to the provincial level.
