Journalist denied access to New Ireland provincial assembly

A female journalist in New Ireland Province was barred from entering the Provincial Assembly building earlier today by security personal mending the premises.

The female journalist claimed she was denied access as a news reporter and a local New Irleander to provide information to the general public.

Members of the local Security threatened to confiscate her mobile phone but we're unsuccessful.

According to NBC sources in Kavieng, other members of the public were also stopped with a list given to securities for people to access and attend the Assembly meeting.

According to the female reporter she wanted to attend the Assembly meeting session for today following a suspension notice filed by Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt yesterday.

However she was verbally told by a staff of the Governor's Office that complaints were leveled against her for doing live commentary in yesterday's assembly meeting.

The female reporter denied doing live stream during the assembly session.

Meanwhile Acting Deputy Governor Sammy Missen has suspended the assembly following a court order filed by Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt over the legality of 4 members of the Assembly.

The matter is expected to be heard in court next week.
