Toroama expects Bougainville Referendum result in Parliament this year

President of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville Ismael Toroama expects the Bougainville Referendum result to be presented to the National Parliament this year.
"This must be done and endorsed by Parliament in the spirit of the Bougainville Peace Process", President Toroama said.
Speaking this morning during the opening of the 3-day Joint Moderation Consultation at Melanesian House, President Toroama highlighted that the result indicates the struggle of his people and their aspirations of becoming independent.
President Toroama appealed to Prime Minister Marape and his Government to hear the plea of the people.
Meanwhile Prime Minister James Marape says the consultation will be anchored in the Bougainville Peace Agreement.
Mr Marape assured meeting officials that the referendum result will be brought to Parliament for consideration by leaders.
He also called on Bougainville leaders and their people to accept the result when Parliament deliberates.
Mr Marape says his government will work together with the Autonomous Bougainville Government to see this process achieve results for all.
The 3-day meeting will end on Wednesday.
