The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC), in partnership with long-standing partner, Trukai Industries Limited, launched the 2025 Trukai Fun Run.

This annual event aims to raise funds for Team PNG's preparation and participation in major international competitions through the sale of Trukai Fun Run t-shirts.

Proceeds from this year's Fun Run will go towards directly supporting Team PNG's participation at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau, scheduled from June 29 to July 9, 2025.

A contingent of over 160 athletes and officials will proudly represent Papua New Guinea, competing in nine out of the twelve sports on the program: Athletics, Softball, Basketball 3x3, Swimming, Table Tennis, Va’a, Beach Volleyball, Indoor Volleyball, and Weightlifting. Leading the team as Chef de Mission is Mr. Kinivanagi Karo.

PNGOC President Emma Waiwai said since 2000, Trukai has been a committed supporter of Team PNG through the Fun Run initiative.

“Their commitment has been instrumental in our athletes' successes on the international stage,” Waiwai said.

“As we prepare for the Pacific Mini Games in Palau, we are confident that this support will once again make a significant impact on our performance.

“I urge all Papua New Guineans to rally behind our national athletes by purchasing one or two t-shirts, priced at only K15 this year, and join us on June 8, 2025, for the Trukai Fun Run.

“Let's wear our shirts with pride and show our support for Team PNG.”

The 2025 Trukai Fun Run will take place simultaneously across 12 locations, in addition to the main event in Port Moresby.

“The participating locations are Lae, Madang, Wewak, Sandaun, Goroka, Mt. Hagen, Kokopo, Biala (which will feature two routes), Popondetta, Alotau, and Buka.

This nationwide participation highlights the event's significance in uniting communities in support of our athletes.

Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Trukai Industries Ltd, Alan Preston, emphasized the company's longstanding dedication to sports in Papua New Guinea.

“This year marks our 25th year as naming rights sponsor of the Fun Run which demonstrates our continuous commitment to elite athletes representing PNG in sports,” said Preston.

He reiterated, “Our support towards PNG Olympic Committee’s annual Fun Run initiative is a legacy sponsorship, and we are proud of this partnership that brings corporates and Papua New Guineans together to participate in this annual event.”
