St. Steven Catholic School in Lae, Morobe Province, has officially opened a new early childhood learning centre, made possible through the generous support of Lae Biscuit Company.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Chow Foundation and Buk Bilong Pikinini, aims to provide young children with access to quality educational resources, including books, learning materials, and literacy programs.

John Chow, CEO of the Chow Foundation and Managing Director of Lae Biscuit Company, highlighted the importance of community collaboration in his address at the opening ceremony.

"Education is a collective responsibility, and this centre represents not just a building but hope, opportunity, and progress. It is a testament to what can be achieved when government, private sector, community organizations, and families work together towards a common goal," Chow said.

The Chow Foundation, through its commitment to community development, continues to support initiatives that ensure children have access to essential learning tools.

Founder and Vice-Chair of Buk Bilong Pikinini Anne-Sophie Hermann also expressed her gratitude for the partnership, emphasising the vital role corporate support plays in addressing the education gap in Papua New Guinea.

The new facility, located within St. Steven Elementary School, will accommodate approximately 80 children aged 4 to 6 years old.

It aims to provide a strong foundation for their future academic success, promoting early literacy and educational development.
