The construction of the New Telma [Kagul] bridge in Lower Kagul of Tambul District will commence on Monday.

The construction of the new facility comes after the old bridge collapsed last year, making it difficult to access schools, markets, and health services.

The new bridge will benefit everyone in Lower Kagul across the 12 council wards with over 10,000 population, including public servants who serve in Tambul Secondary School, Alken Health Center, and other primary schools.

Local MP Win Bakri Daki said the bridge was funded by the National Government, and the construction will be done by Department of Works in collaboration with engineers from the District Development Authority.

"The DDA will meet labor costs. From the experiences of the past two bridges built on the same river was quite cheaper, this bridge will cost us much," Daki said.

"I am grateful that my people will now receive the much needed service".

Mr. Daki said this is sixth bridged to be constructed apart from other tangible infrastructure developments, pledging his commitment to deliver this project on time.

"I will make sure everything is in place so we can start construction without any delay. I am personally committed to leading this project, and I thank my entire delegation for their dedication and hard work in bringing us to this point," he said.

The local MP commended tribal leaders and the entire community for their patience, support, and understanding since the bridge collapsed.

"Your encouragement fuels my drive to keep pushing forward and working hard on your behalf. This project is not just about building a bridge; it is about strengthening the bonds of our community and creating a unified future.

"The new bridge represents progress, hope, and a brighter future for our children and families."
