Hull KR dealt hammer blow as Rhyse Martin injury detail emerges with surgery needed

Hull KR have confirmed the severity of a quad injury suffered to back rower Rhyse Martin during last week's 42-0 win over Salford Red Devils.
The Robins made it three wins from three in Super League with a big scalp over the struggling Reds side, but it came at a cost, with Willie Peters now set to be without his back rower and goal-kicker for an extended period.
The KR head coach confirmed the blow during Tuesday's pre-match press conference ahead of Friday's game at St Helens, with Martin, who joined the club from Super League rival Leeds Rhinos ahead of the 2025 season, set to undergo surgery.
The Papua New Guinea international injured his quadricep in the win over Salford and such is the substantial nature of the injury surgery will be needed with an estimated recovery time of four months.
It's a big blow for the Robins who brought Martin in this season as their goal-kicker but also adding strike and vast experience to the back-row.
Martin has played in four of Rovers' competitive fixtures this year, debuting against York Knights in the Challenge Cup last month.
He has scored two tries and kicked 11 goals so far. Before that, he played for Leeds for five and a half seasons, making 132 appearances. He scored 40 tries and 440 goals for a grand total of 1,040 points. - Hull Live
