Police in the National Capital District have been out in full force all over the city as of 5 am this morning to make sure there would be order in the city and to clamp down on rumors of a possible protest today.

The Metropolitan Superintendent for NCD Chief Inspector Silva Sika clarified that any planned protest seeks clearance and authorizaion from his office and then had not been anything of this sort.

He said the rumors about a possible protest circulating on social media were from individuals with personal interests who only want to disturb the peace and good order in the city.

“Such messages about a protest circulating on social media are illegal, and it is purported by certain individuals or groups with a vested interest which they want to influence others to create diversion and disturb the common peace and good order of our city.”

He said the police in NCD are on full alert for any suspicious movements and anybody caught spreading information about an unauthorized protest will be dealt with accordingly.

The NCD Metropolitan Superintendent is also warning the NCD city residents not to get involved with law-and-order issues happening in the Highlands region.

Chief Inspector Sika said the issues up in the Highlands have their own authorities to deal with and it is being addressed at their respective levels.

He said there is no reason for spillover to NCD or even in other provinces as it will only disturb the normal livelihoods of people.

“We are mindful of the spillover which is just an assumption, but that can also raise security threat in the city.”

Mr. Sika reminded the public that everyone living in the city have their own day to day to jobs to get them by during these difficult times and there is no need to disturb the peace in the city when there are other issues already affecting us all.

Mr. Sika is also warning opportunists to think rationally before being involved in an issue that is already be watched closely by law enforcers.
