The West New Britain Province has received only K16.7 million out of the K42.7 million in constitutional grants that the National Government was supposed to give to the province last year.

This means there was a shortfall of K19.6 million in funding which was meant for developments in the province last year.

Governor Sasindran Muthuvel announced this when presenting the 2025 Provincial Budget, this week in Kimbe.

In addition, a National Government commitment of 10 million Kina, last year for the construction of a new provincial headquarters building remains unpaid.

"These are the type of issues and delays affecting progress in the province," WNB Governor Muthuvel said.

However, he said the Provincial Government remains optimistic that the national government will deliver on these commitments.
