East Sepik remembers Sir Michael

East Sepik Province, the home province of PNG's Founding Father and First Prime Minister Late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare is now joining the rest of the country in commemorating the 4th anniversary of the late leader's passing.

A candlelight vigil was held last night at Villa Viak in Kreer Heights, marking the beginning of the celebrations honoring the late Sir Michael.

The ceremony took place at the resting place of the founding father, setting a reflective and respectful tone for the events to come.

This morning, a dawn service was hosted by PNGDF 2RPIR to commence today's program.

Prime Minister James Marape is expected to be in Wewak later today.

Dignitaries who are currently in Wewak to observe the day include Public Service Minister Joe Sungi, Civil Aviation's Walter Schnaubelt, Sir Moi Ave, Dame Meg Taylor, and Winnie Kiap among others.
