In a somber march through town and to the Provincial Administration Headquarters, the Greater Sepik Association in Milne Bay single-handedly brought everyone together today to remember founding father Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare on his death day.

Tributes flowed from Milne Bay leaders like Provincial Administrator Dr Igo Gari who described him a freedom architect well before his time and from Bishop Rolando Santos of the Alotau Catholic Diocese about his primary goal for unity through it all.

Sepik community elder Francis Yura, a former kiap and public servant spoke of the early days of engineering togetherness from a fitting country name to even our currency reminding all of the great leadership that began it all for PNG.

The province hopes to make this an annual occasion and thanked the Greater Sepik Association for spearheading the program to remind all of the great lengths and sacrifices made to allow us to enjoy today.

They ended the program with laying of wreaths.
