The inaugural men's champion of the Private Companies Netball Competition is making a late comeback to defend the title won last season.

The Kamuna men’s team, despite making a slow start, has closed the gap of doubt with a resounding performance in the second round of the PCNC, ensuring their proximity to the finals.

“We started the season slowly, well below our standard, but as we approach the critical phase of the season, we are now gaining momentum,” Coach Lawrence Lahari told NBC News.

“Our ultimate goal is to win again. As reigning champions, we will do everything possible to defend our title.”

Currently making waves in pool A, the reigning champions continue to encounter significant challenges in the men’s division, with City Pharmacy and National Parliament posing major threats.

Lahari stated that achieving a top four finish by the end of the regular round is their goal as they enter the final leg of the competition.

“Everyone is a threat. Men’s netball has been growing from strength to strength, and everyone is really improving,” Lahari said.

“We are currently in the top four, but we are not at the bottom of that group; we need to finish in the top two.”

He stated that the Kamuna team has been bolstered in defense by Joel Cholai and Enoch Raka, who have both collaborated effectively in their defensive efforts.

“As I mentioned, we had a very slow start in Round 1, losing matches that we should have won. Therefore, our finals campaign and the defense of our titles begin at the start of Round 2; we are not waiting until the finals,” Lahari concluded.
