Prime Minister James Marape says Papua New Guinea will continue to strengthen its bilateral relationship with the United States, highlighting the importance of existing and future American investments in the country.

He said following his recent visit to the U.S., both nations will pursue greater collaboration across key sectors.

A high-level meeting is also being planned involving senior government officials from the White House and Waigani to deepen bilateral engagement.

“We are reconfiguring our individual relationships with all countries we engage with.

"The United States stands out as our number one partner in terms of shared values — democracy, a free market economy, and Christianity,” Prime Minister Marape said.

He noted these three pillars form the foundation of PNG’s national identity, aligning closely with those of the U.S.

“This upcoming meeting at the vice-presidential level will set the agenda and momentum for a future meeting between the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea,” he added.
