Bodies of the four passengers trapped in the NCA P2-Sam plane that crashed in Sarawaget, Lae, Morobe Province have finally been retrieved today - exactly a week since the tragic crash.
They are expected to be flown into Lae tomorrow, Monday, as soon as relevant logistics are in place and the weather permitting.
Morobe's Disaster Director Charlie Masange told the media in a press conference this afternoon, that the bodies have been tagged and bagged today at the crash site.
Mr Masange says the SAR team will officially hand the bodies over to the Morobe Provincial Government once they are brought into Lae.
The disaster Director says, the bodies will be taken straight to the Angau Memorial General Hospital morgue, and not the funeral home as previously planned.
This will allow for the doctors and the forensic team to complete their testing process.
Engineering Investigations and Lab Manager with the Accidents Investigations Commission [AIC] Emerson Buidal says, his officer investigating the cause of the plane crash on the ground has also completed his investigations and will be flying back with the SAR team when they return to Lae with the bodies.
Mr Buidal said, that his team will reveal the cause of the crash once all information collected is confirmed and finalized by AIC's specialists.
