After his visit to Enga Province yesterday, West Tigers Centre Justin Olam urged young and aspiring rugby players to set high goals and stay committed to hard work.
“I’m no different from you. If I can make it to the NRL, so can you,” Olam encouraged.
“It’s all about having clear goals, working hard, and staying committed. Many of you have the talent to succeed, but it ultimately depends on how serious you are about making your dreams come true.”
Olam shared his journey as one that many young people in rural Papua New Guinea can relate to.
“I grew up in a rural village in Sinesine Yongomugl District, Simbu Province, where education was my path to a better life. I pursued school, but eventually, rugby led me to the NRL. Opportunities like this are out there for you too,” Olam said.
He also praised the successful grand finals of the school rugby league program in Enga Province, emphasizing the importance of teaching rugby at an early age.
Olam noted that this approach would strengthen the push for an NRL team in Papua New Guinea in the near future.
