Education Secretary reappointed for third term

Dr Uke Kombra had been reappointed to head the Department of Education for a new term.

Education Minister Lucas Dawa Dekena confirmed that the National Executive Council made that decision this month.

"The NEC on 2nd October 2024 made a decision to reappoint Dr Kombra for another term," this will be his third term.

Mr Dekena said "the decision is a testament to his exceptional merit unwavering performance and the stability he has brought to the education system.

"His vision and dedication have laid a strong foundation for future advancement and I am confident that under his guidance, we will continue to see major improvement and transformation changes in our education system.

"Key initiatives such as early childhood education, vision 2075, the 1-6-6 programs, digital transformation, advancement in STEM education, curriculum reforms, and the flexible open and distance education initiatives are critical to our mission."
