Prime Minister Marape attends Indonesia President’s inauguration

Prime Minister James Marape arrived at a warm reception in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sunday, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko to witness the inauguration of Indonesia's eighth president.

Indonesia's Prabowo Subianto on Sunday took over as president of the world's third-largest democracy at the ceremony at the Indonesia Parliament.  

President-elect was inaugurated alongside Gibran Rakabuming , the son of the outgoing President Joko Widodo.

Mr Marape said PNG looks forward to strengthening the bond between the two nations through this important event.

PM Marape held bilateral with Solomon Islands Prime Minister

Before jetting back to the country, the prime minister held a bilateral meeting with the Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele to discuss key areas of cooperation and partnership (supplied image).

Discussions also included PNG’s close ties with Indonesia and common interests in the Pacific Region.

PNG is supporting the Solomon Islands to host the Pacific Islands Forum, next year.

Marape is expected to arrive back in Port Moresby tonight.
