ADB lends K5.54 billion to PNG

Asian Development Bank is the biggest lender to the Papua New Guinea Government with a current portfolio of K5. 54 billion [US $1. 379 billion].
In an interview, the ADB Country Director Said Zaidahsyah said the transport sector accounts for "60% of our [ADB] portfolio".
He says working together with line government agencies is vital for project implementation
"We will come up with action plan, we will agree together for time based action," Mr Zaidahsyah said.
"Where are the weak link and gaps, ADB can provide that capacity building where need so project implementation in the country will move effectively and effectively."
The one day closed door discussion hosted by ADB with the Department of Treasury, Department of National Planning and Monitoring, and other government agencies was held today.
