Sophie Talele is set on returning home to East New Britain Province after she successfully completed her National FODE exam this week, which concluded today.

Sophie enrolled at the Hela Ibau Flexible Open Distance Education [FODE] program after making a crucial decision to improve her grades following rejections for inspection due to her low marks on her certificate.

Ms Talele was teaching in East New Britain when she made the decision to move to the Hela Province.

Although Sophie had upgraded marks through the Department of Distance and Learning [DODL] initiatives, she was given a transcript and not a certificate. This had led to her being denied inspection during her time teaching in the province for the last ten years.

Expressing a pressing need for a grade 12 certificate, she voiced the sacrifices she made to attain it.

Ms. Talele explained that she chose to upgrade her marks through Ibau FODE Centre because of the educational opportunities provided by the Hela Education Services and the Provincial Government such as assistance for FODE students pursuing further studies at the University of Goroka and the recent introduction of study programs at Parul University in India.

In her effort to undertake the National FODE Examination, Ms. Talele disclosed investing over K5,000 to journey to the province with her son for the exam on Monday.

After the last exam today, Ms Talele visited NBC Hela, and indicated she will be returning home at the weekend.
