Sixty bike riders from Kainantu arrive in Goroka for the 70th show
Sixty bike riders from Obura-Wonenara and Kainantu districts of Eastern Highlands Province ride their bicycle on Thursday night and turn up in the Provincial capital on Friday morning.
They decorate their bikes with PNG flag and the provincial flag as it is part of the Independence celebrations and also for the 70th Goroka Show.
They left Kainantul town at 6pm in the afternoon and ride all the way to Goroka.
Spokesperson Joshua Simon from Obura Wonenara said the main idea is to come and take part and be part of the Goroka show.
Simon said this is the 4th time for them to ride on bicycle from Kainantu to Goroka.
He said Goroka show committee did not let them into the show arena in the past years but they are hopeful this will not happen this year.
He said we are not disappointed, we are proud Eastern Highlanders and this is our time, it happens once a year and we are happy to be part of the show.
Eastern Highlands Governor Simon Sia is aware of their coming and said will organise their entry into the Show ground.
