PM commits K11 billion for education sector

Prime Minister James Marape says one of the biggest priorities for the next 10 years is quality education.

In his speech during the flag raising ceremony at the Independence Hill this morning, PM Marape announced that national government has committed a total of K11 billion to assist the education sector in the next decade.

He said students must not be discouraged if they do not make it through to further education but must have a positive mindset and study through Flexible Open & Distance Education [FODE].

Marape urged students to take up courses in vocational schools and technical training.

The Prime Minister said government will continue to invest in schools, universities, teacher training, classrooms, student accommodation and essential facilities.

He added that students are future leaders for the government, therefore this funding must be matched by discipline and determination from students, as well as teachers.
