Local doctor claims breakthrough treatment for advanced cancer patient
A 36-year-old man, Wesley Wali, who was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2023, is now responding to treatment at the Medline Pacific, a local medical facility in Port Moresby.
Director and Founder of Medline Pacific Dr. Samuel Maima said Wali underwent surgery at Port Moresby General Hospital in 2023 and later chemoradiation therapy at McCarthy Medical Centre in Manila, Philippines in 2024.
" Three weeks ago, he was referred for care after cancer recurred, with severe pain, swelling and inability to open his mouth", Dr Maima said.
He said Wali has shown "prompt recovery" under a combined regenerative and nutritional therapy program developed at his facility.
Dr. Maima also said the program does not involve chemotherapy or radiation.
He is urging Papua New Guineans with advanced cancer to seek treatment locally, stating that "there is cure in natural and nutritional medicine" and that patients can access care in the country at a lower cost.
He said he hopes Wali’s recovery will inspire other cancer patients across PNG.
