Goroka contractor rebrands PNG DataCo facilities

Goroka-based contractor Mebiluba Service and Maintenance has commenced refurbishment and rebranding work on PNG DataCo's Kumul Submarine Cable Network landing facility in Alotau, Milne Bay.

The six-man team from Eastern Highlands has been engaged to rebrand DataCo facilities across Papua New Guinea to establish a standardized national corporate image.

Director of Mebiluba Service and Maintenance and former DataCo employee Billy Kaupa said the company, which has served as a primary contractor for DataCo since 2022, was tasked with designing and implementing the national rebranding standard.

"It was my idea to design the new branding for PNG DataCo," Kaupa said. "The previous corporate identity used Huawei's color scheme of red, white, and black, but we have transitioned to DataCo's new standard, which incorporates gold."

Kaupa confirmed that Milne Bay is the first province in the Southern region to undergo the face-lift.

"We have completed sites across the Highlands, Momase, and New Guinea Islands regions," Kaupa said. "Alotau is our initial site in the Southern region, after which we will move to Kerema, Daru, Popondetta, and conclude in Port Moresby."

Kaupa said apart from major stations in Madang, Kavieng, and Port Moresby, most DataCo facilities currently lack basic staff amenities.

Following the completion of the rebranding and refurbishment phase, the contractor will revisit each provincial site to install missing facilities, including toilets and showers.
