UPNG open campus to be established in Ambunti

Locals in the upper Sepik region will soon have access to University of Papua New Guinea Open Campus to furthering tertiary education and securing better employment opportunities.

This plan was revealed by Ambunti local level government president Edward Wiruk during the opening of the 18th crocodile & arts festival in Ambunti Station.

He is working closely with director of UPNG Learning Center in Yangoru-Saussia, Maino Koloa, to bring this establishment into Ambunti.

This proposed learning center once completed will significantly reduce expenses, while creating more opportunities for tertiary education to locals in Ambunti and beyond.

It will also be the 4th Open Campus in East Sepik to provide matriculation, diploma, and degree programs of the University of Papua New Guinea in the province.

Wiruk highlighted that this will equip young people of Ambunti for employment opportunities from the proposed Frieda Mine. The proposed UPNG Ambunti Learning Center is expected to open next year.
