Remote Jiwaka community establishes health post
The Jiwaka Provincial Health Authority has extended critical health services to rural areas in the province to create easy access for disadvantage communities.
This is possible through the establishment of a community post at Telta Village in Middle Jimi.
JPHA chief executive officer Thaddeus Turi officially opened the new health post this week.
Turi said the facility is not yet a Community Health Post [CHP].
He said, a CHP must meet all the National Department of Heath [NDoH] facility and health standards.
CEO Turi said the provincial health authority will later convert the facility into a recognized Community Health Post.
He said the Project Management Unit from JPHA will make an urgent visit to Telta Community Post and do a report on facility upgrade.
He urged the communities to take ownership of the facility, and continue their good work and participation in elevating their post to a standard community health post.
